TM relieves stress and burnout

Transcendental Meditation is an effective technique to relieve stress and burnout, as shown by hundreds of research studies. Stress and burnout were recently highlighted as the most pressing health issues of the 21st century, during presentations to heads of state at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

More than 600 scientific research studies show Transcendental Meditation to be an extremely effective technique to release stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and prevent burnout. Among these, several comparative studies have shown TM to be more effective than any other meditation technique at reducing anxiety and high blood pressure. TM provides deeper levels of physiological rest than other meditation techniques. It is also more effective at developing self-actualisation or the ability to fulfil one’s aspirations — widely regarded as a measure of general mental health.

Prominent international medical doctors endorse TM

Johannesburg-born Dr. Norman Rosenthal, now one of America’s best-known psychiatrists, has begun research studies on the effects of Transcendental Meditation on emotional disorders, specifically bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and is currently writing a book about Transcendental Meditation. He says: ‘Because of TM’s ability to settle down the nervous system, to quiet it down, to slow down the fight-or-flight response, I believe it is a very promising direction for us to explore. I think it’s definitely something we should be trying and testing and studying.’  Dr Rosenthal grew up in South Africa and trained in medicine at Wits University. He is now Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University Medical School.

Dr Mehmet Oz, a leading cardiologist sometimes known as ‘America’s doctor’ because of his high profile appearances on talk shows, took up Transcendental Meditation two years ago, and is thoroughly convinced by the results for both himself and his patients. He says: “Meditation is emerging as a powerful stress buster. Research shows that it can have health benefits equivalent to or better than some of the leading medications for reducing high blood pressure and high cholesterol.”  See Dr Oz speak on video.

Yes Raju, some meditation techniques try to control the mind — as you are trying to do — but Transcendental Meditation isn’t like that. It is easy and effortless. The technique allows you to transcend (go beyond) thoughts rather than get rid of them. If you go to our Learn page you will find more information about the course.

With TM you’re not trying to trenacsnd your problems. TM is a specific technique that lets your mind trenacsnd thought so it can be completely silent, during meditation. Afterwards, you feel more calm and less stressed, so you can be more creative and see the bigger picture. This helps you deal with whatever is happening in your life. There are still challenges and if something bad happens you still feel it, but it doesn’t overwhelm you so much.
